"Doug was someone who brought us all together with his charisma, generosity and sense of humour that connected Norwegians and Brits in a way no one else could do. He was a pillar during the good times and the more challenging times at NBCC. He was instrumental in making NBCC a close-knit community rather than a membership association before, during and after his Presidency. He was awarded St.Olav’s medal and was the last of a long line of NBCC Presidents to be awarded this which says a lot (too bad for us who had to fill such big shoes). He was a great mentor to me as a young President and hope NBCC will live on in his warm, positive and inclusive spirit."
